What Jobs Can 14-Year-Olds Get in Pennsylvania?

Types of Jobs
Pennsylvania law permits 14 and 15-year-olds to work in non-manufacturing, non-hazardous jobs. There are several types of jobs suitable for 14-year-olds, including:
• Food Preparation: 14 and 15-year-olds can work in restaurants making food, serving drinks, or mixing ingredients.
• Shopping and Delivery: 14 and 15-year-olds can work as delivery drivers and cashiers in Pennsylvania.
• Entertainment: Performing onstage, such as in theater and dance productions, is also permitted.
• Office Jobs: Office-related tasks, such as data entry, filing and answering phones,can be done by 14 and 15-year-olds.
Working hours for 14-year-olds are limited in Pennsylvania. They may not work more than:
• 8 hours in any one day,
• 40 hours in any one week,
• No more than 6 consecutive days,
• Not before 7 a.m. or after 7 p.m.
Pennsylvania requires 14 and 15-year-olds to take at least one 30-minute unpaid break for every 5 hours of work.
